The 13 Hotel: The World’s Most Expensive Resort

Written by Christopher A.8 years ago

Located in gambling mecca Macau outside Hong Kong, The 13 Hotel aims to set a new level of ultra luxury. Housing a collection of 200 palatial Baroque styled villas, complete with majordomes and red Rolls Royce Phantoms. The cost to build it? Just a whopping US$ 1.4 billion.

In other words, close to 7 million US dollar per room. But who ever said luxury and extravagance comes cheap? The 13 Hotel is probably the world’s most expensive Hotel ever built to date. So what does a cool billion and a half get you today?

In addition to the palatial styled rooms ranging from 2,000 to 30,000 square feet, the complex also houses an invitation-only L’Atelier offering couture, bespoke and limited edition products from selected major luxury brands. They are also home to the only branch of L’Ambroisie, the legendary Paris institution of Michelin 3-star haute cuisine. And each villa features a marble Roman bath set under a vaulted Baroque ceiling supported by and a crystal chandelier.

Yep, it’s quite clear that The 13 caters only to the super wealthy. And to make them feel just like home, all hotel guests receive complimentary transfer to and from Macau transportation hubs on check-in and check-out via their fleet of 30 bespoke, red, Rolls-Royce Phantoms with drivers trained in England.

Butler training in Paris

You also get complementary 24-hour butler service from The 13’s team of majordome, trained by world famous MCM Palace Consultants and certified by the English Guild of Butlers.

The 13 also comes with a selection of fine cuisine restaurants and bars to cater to every taste.

  • L’Ambroisie, French haute cuisine. The only branch of the legendary original in Paris.
  • Tokugawa, Japanese Kaiseki focused on the world’s highest grade of Kobe beef
  • Chinoiserie, Cantonese haute cuisine and regional favourites
  • Café Blanc, casual Asian, Portuguese and International dining
  • Chairman’s Bar, Rare liquors in amodern setting with a hint of baroque grandeur
  • L’Espace, open-area bar in the form of free-standing sculpture

I can’t wait to see what it all will look like when they open in the summer of 2016.
